Doobie Brothers fans recognize there have been two version of the Doobies in their long history. The Tom Johnston years (early Doobies) and the Michael McDonald years (later Doobies). Some favor one over the other.
Michael McDonald wasn’t involved in the making of the new album but he will be touring with the band in 2022. They are scheduled to be at the Star Lake Pavillion July 9th in 2022.
Liberté finds the Grammy-winning band and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees reviving their signature sound. Liberté translates into English meaning “liberation”. The mood of the music reflects the title. Several tracks, “Oh Mexico”, “Just can’t Do It Alone”, “Wherever We Go” and “Easy” could easily fit into the “Rockin Down the Highway” or ‘China Grove” era.
The mood is upbeat, the music has a spirit of we can still move our audience and the end result is a good recording. This isn’t a throw a buch of songs together and sell it because we have a fan base. This is truely a good album.- Enjoy!
