Americans who have vision insurance plans largely were dissatisfied with them in 2020. However, things changed in 2021, according to J.D. Power’s latest annual Vision Plan Satisfaction Report.
In fact, on a 1,000-point scale, overall customer satisfaction jumped nine points to 769 in 2021.
J.D. Power also noted that 5% more of the vision plan members it surveyed had visited their vision providers in the prior six months, compared with the same period in 2020.
In formulating its rankings, J.D. Power surveyed more than 1,100 vision plan members. Overall customer satisfaction with vision plan providers was based on five factors. In order of importance, they were:
- Coverage
- Cost
- Communications
- Customer service
- Reimbursement
UnitedHealthcare Vision got the highest marks in this year’s survey. Overall, three providers finished with overall customer-satisfaction scores that were higher than the industry-wide average of 769:
- UnitedHealthcare Vision: 825 out of 1,000 points
- Aetna Vision: 816
- Davis Vision: 775
