The King’s Man is the third film released in the franchise based on Mark Millar and Dave Gibbons’ comic book The Secret Service. The first two movies, 2014’s Kingsman: The Secret Service and 2017 sequel Kingsman: The Golden Circle, were of the comedy spy genre and they lived up to the name.
The King’s Man is a prequel to the other two movies, but it doesn’t fit into this category. It has some spy elements and some comedic elements. Of course, they are part of the story although there isn’t enough of one or the other to define it. The outcome is a movie where the elements don’t blend resulting in a dull movie.
Unfortunately, this film is for the fans of the Kingsman only. If you haven’t seen the 1st two movies, you are better off renting them than starting with this one.
